Alvarado spoke about there being 4 representations within the themes:

Edward Said's challenges the concept or the the difference between the east and west. He spoke about the east and west being civilized and the uncivilized. Speaking about the concept of 'them and us' or 'theirs and ours'.
2) Watch the opening of Yasmin (2004) again. Does it offer a positive or negative view of British Muslims? To what extent does it reinforce or challenge Edward Said's theory of Orientalism - that the west is superior to the exotic or uncivilised east?
I believe when you are talking about the main actor the woman shows a negative view of British Muslims as it is showing she doesn't respect her beliefs as it shows she has two lives which could portray how the people are today in the british muslim society. I believe it does reinforce Said's society as she is part of both societies in a way where she is part of the westernised community and also the eastern side where she goes to the pub but then also puts on a hijab. You could say she has no choice but to be like this to blend in with the british society.
