The campaign started in the summer when Lucy Holmes found she couldn't stop thinking about the fact that the largest female image in The Sun was of a young woman showing her breasts for men, even though Jessica Ennis had just won her gold Olympic medal.
2) What are the six reasons the campaign gives for why Page 3 has to go?
- It is 2015, page 3 was made in the sexist times, 1970's.
- Soft porn, families can look at that.
- Bad teachings for children
- Women are known for doing better things in the world
- Showing that women are only needed for sexual needs
- The Sun could be better without page 3
Susan believes The Sun should have no more page 3 as she states that it is no longer the 1970's, does not help the sales of The Sun and how the sun decided to bring back page 3 because of the pressures.
Barbara spoke about there being worse things than page 3, whether it being up to the female themselves if they wanted to do page 3 or not, how people should do alternatives if they do not like page 3 or the sun also how some people would want page 3 and that the campaigns shouldn't speak for all.
4) How can the No More Page 3 campaign be linked to the idea of post-feminism?
It can be linked to post feminism as they are trying to get out of this feminism period by having no more page 3 and in which the campaigners believe it would link to post feminism if page 3 were to be no more as they would have got rid of one of the sexualised parts of women in the country.
5) What are your OWN views on the No More Page 3 campaign. Do you agree with the campaign's aims? Should the campaign continue?
I do not agree with the campaign of no more page 3 as I believe that it is up to the females who are doing the page 3 modelling whether they want to do it or not. It also may be their job at the end of the day and it is what they do for a living. As it has been stated that it was started in 1970's and for many years there have not been any problems with page 3 until now, so if this campaign did not create a big stir I believe many people would not have cared.
6) Do you agree that we are in a post-feminist state or is there still a need for feminism?
There are reasons to why we are in a post feminism and still need for feminism. The reasons to why we are still in need for feminism is reasons such as women not quite being equal with men looking at jobs for e.g. where in the companies the biggest people such as directors are always mainly men. Also women are still over sexualised when looking at music videos where apart from the main female singers women are there to be looked at and nothing more. On the other hand an example of us being in post feminism is in wimbledon and tennis where women play less sets than men but still get paid the same winnings, this shows that is more bias towards women in this scenario but does show that there is no longer a need for feminism in this sport.
